Parliamentary Agriculture proposes the construction of 4 dams to preserve the Shatt al-Arab water

Economy News _ Baghdad
The Committee on Agriculture, Water and the Marshlands in the House of Representatives proposed, on Wednesday, the construction of 4 dams in Nasiriyah and Basra to preserve the water of the Shatt al-Arab.
The head of the committee, Salam Al-Shammari, said in an interview followed by "Al-Iktissad News", that "Iraq has suffered from water shortages during the previous years due to the lack of water releases, which necessitates the construction of dams that enable it to prevent the waste of water that can benefit from it in the future and not to go to the Gulf."
Al-Shammari added, "The coming years may herald a decrease in water releases due to the shortage of water on the Turkish side."
