Tabbaa: The Federation of Arab Businessmen is keen on achieving Arab economic integration

Amman / NINA / President of the Federation of Arab Businessmen, Hamdi Al-Tabaa, affirmed the keenness of the Union, which is based in Amman, to serve the business community and achieve Arab economic integration.
Al Tabaa pointed out, during his presidency of the regular annual meeting of the General Assembly of the Union through visual communication technology, to the efforts made to educate the Arab private sector about the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic on the Arab economy through modern studies and approaches to get out of the crisis with minimal losses.
He indicated that all countries are going through difficult circumstances today due to the Corona virus, stressing the Union's keenness to actively contribute to mitigating the economic effects of the pandemic on Arab economies and to continue efforts in preparing economic and sector studies on the subject and submitting them to specialists, in addition to supporting the Palestinian economy.
Al-Tabbaa gave a presentation on the mechanisms that the Union had taken to contribute to supporting Lebanon and Sudan after the circumstances that had afflicted the two brother peoples.
On the other hand, the Secretary-General of the Union, Thabet Al-Taher, reviewed the report of the Board of Directors on the activities of the Union for the years 2019-2020, which includes participation in economic meetings and forums held by the League of Arab States and the Council of Economic Unity.
He pointed out that the Federation has prepared a number of studies, working papers and reports that dealt with various economic issues on investment opportunities in the Arab world, mechanisms for achieving sustainable development in the Arab world, and the efforts and achievements of the Union in achieving sustainable development goals in the Arab region.
Al-Taher explained the main axes of the union's action plan during the years 2020-2021, which includes working on preparing economic studies and research on issues of interest to the Arab business community and keeping pace with the latest economic developments at the Arab and international level.
In addition, Vice President of the Union and President of the Palestinian Businessmen Union, Osama Amr, presented promising investment opportunities in Palestine, especially in the field of renewable energy, which is a promising economic sector, pointing to the importance of enhancing joint cooperation at the economic level among the members of the union.
Amr pointed out the importance of finding mechanisms that contribute to facilitating the movement of Palestinian businessmen who wish to invest in various countries of the Arab world.
For his part, the head of the Bahraini Businessmen Association, Khaled Al-Zayani, stressed the need to enhance the role of women in the Arab economy, especially in the Arab Gulf region, stressing the importance of working to organize a number of qualitative meetings targeting specific economic sectors.
In turn, the President of the Palestinian Businessmen Forum, Amer Al-Asaily, referred to the importance of activating the role of the Union in networking between its members and its counterparts from various Arab countries, with the aim of activating bilateral relations and creating real strategic partnerships.
During the meeting, the Board of Directors took many decisions listed on the agenda in addition to approving the final financial statements for the past year 2019, and the work plan and budget for the current fiscal year 2020.
The meeting was attended by representatives of associations, owners and businessmen from Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria ./is over
