Sabah Al-Ugaili: Delayed salaries ... a means of pressure on Parliament to agree to borrowing again

Tuesday 22, September 2020 11:56
Baghdad ( NINA ) - Member of Parliament for the Alliance, Sabah Al-Ugaili, confirmed that: delaying salaries ... a means of pressure on Parliament to agree to borrow again.
He told the Iraqi National News Agency ( NINA ) that: The government does not have the right to external borrowing without the approval of Parliament to borrow. Therefore, the government will work by stopping or delaying salaries to pressure parliament to vote on borrowing.
Al-Aqili added that: The government's continued request for borrowing is clear evidence of the absence of any solutions to maximize resources in order to reduce dependence on a single resource.
An informed source revealed today, Tuesday, that the Ministry of Finance has not started paying employees' salaries for the month of September until now due to the lack of cash.
The source said in a press interview, that the Ministry of Finance is awaiting approval of the budget that includes the lending clause to proceed with the payment of salaries of employees and self-financing departments for the month of September.
And he indicated that the finance needs 3 trillions to add to the sums retained for it to distribute salaries ./ End 3
