The Karbala Agriculture Directorate confirmed, on Friday, that the production of dates for this year is expected to reach 150 to 160 thousand tons, an increase over previous years by a good rate due to the air control.

Deputy Director of Agriculture Majid Al-Khazali said, "The Agriculture Directorate expects to produce 150 to 160 thousand tons of dates for this year's season, an increase over previous years as a result of the air control of the Dubas insect."

Khazali added, "In Karbala, there are two million palm trees, each with an average production rate of 60 to 80 kilos."
