Representative work: more than one million and 200 thousand foreign workers are present in Iraq
Economy News _ Baghdad
A member of the Labor and Social Affairs Committee, MP Fadel Jaber, revealed, on Friday, that there are more than one million and 200 thousand foreign workers inside Iraq, stressing the need for the government to move to find a solution to unemployment and organize workshops for the unemployed.
Jaber said, "More than one million and 200 thousand foreign workers work inside Iraq, and this represents a disaster for a country suffering from a major unemployment crisis and ongoing demonstrations to seek to find work and appointments."
He added that "the government must move to find a solution to this employment and provide fairness to the unemployed Iraqis, and to organize workshops and form committees to contain the unemployed."
And that "hundreds of factories are still idle and stopped due to lack of interest and negligence," noting that "it is shameful that Iraq imports oxygen and electricity at a time when it exports the fuel needed for energy."
