The Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee confirmed in a statement on Monday 8/10/2020 that what was published and circulated on social media regarding work within the committee does not represent the opinion of the committee, but rather the viewpoint of its owner.
Where the statement stressed that the committee continues its work and held important meetings, and that the members of the committee are working in the spirit of one team despite the Corona pandemic, which disrupted the activities of all committees, and there is communication with ideas and observations, and the committee has made great achievements at the level of legislation and oversight, including the laws of holding companies, industrial cities and the partnership between the two sectors Public and private, as well as amending the Iraqi Commission for Accreditation and launching a proposed youth employment law, which is considered important and effective in this critical period.
As for the supervisory level, the committee continues to visit the departments related to the work of the committee. It has achieved meetings in the office of the Prime Minister to avoid this difficult economic and health circumstance. The committee had a great role in presenting many proposals to the government during this period.

The Parliamentary Services and Construction Committee, headed by Deputy Dr. Walid Al-Sahlani, in the presence of the women and gentlemen of the committee, hosted the Director General of Planning and Follow-up, the Director General of the Housing Department, and the Head of the Investment Department at the Ministry of Housing, Reconstruction and Public Municipalities on Monday 9/8/2020.
And the hosting discussed housing projects lagging in the Iraqi provinces from 2005 until 2020, and those that were referred by the ministry, in addition to investment projects.
During the hosting, the financial, technical and logistical challenges of housing projects and housing complexes in the Iraqi governorates were discussed, and they were directed to expedite their implementation, and the projects that were taken from citizens in order to start with them, as well as the Tajiyat and Amiriya complex projects in Baghdad governorate, and the remedies for the housing crisis and the implementation of decisions were studied. Al-Mamouri said in a statement: The Parliamentary Services and Construction Committee held a meeting in the presence of the directors of planning, housing and investment at the Ministry of Construction and Housing to discuss the housing situation in the country, indicating the importance of finding appropriate ways to reduce this crisis, which continues to multiply day after day.
Al-Mamouri added: The population growth and the increase in the number of Iraqi families coincided with an almost complete cessation of housing projects, as well as the presence of a number of lagging ministerial projects, pointing out that these projects remained ink on paper and did not see the light despite the allocation of funds and the preparation of appropriate logistics for them.
MP Burhan Al-Mamouri also clarified that the country today needs no less than (3) million housing units to solve the housing crisis throughout the governorates, attributing at the same time the reluctance to occur to the lack of a real will to end the housing crisis and to contract with companies that are not sober, high-bureaucratic and a repellent environment.
