The Minister of Planning, Prof. Dr. Khaled Battal Al-Najem, discussed today, Tuesday, with the Turkish Ambassador in Iraq, Mr. Fateh Yildiz, the bilateral relations between the two countries that are running in the economic and investment fields, and ways of developing them.

During his meeting with Yildiz, the Minister affirmed that the relationship between the two countries is based on a historical depth and a great interdependence between the two peoples, reinforced by common interests in the sectors of investment, tourism, medicine, housing, and others.

To that, the two parties discussed during the meeting, a number of issues, including the loan provided by the Turkish government to Iraq, within the conference of Kuwait, amounting to (5) billion dollars, as well as a project for the reconstruction of Mosul airport, as well as a discussion of providing electric power through the electrical connection between Iraq And Turkey, as well as the second border port project and infrastructure projects with regard to water and the project to establish a number of hospitals in Iraq implemented by Turkish companies.

For his part, the Turkish ambassador expressed his government's keenness to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries to serve the common interests, indicating that the development of relations positively reflected on the volume of trade exchange and the increase in the volume of joint investments. And that the welfare and prosperity of Iraq from the welfare and prosperity of Turkey, expressing the willingness of Turkish companies, to contribute to the implementation of the Grand Faw port project.
