The Minister of Planning, Prof. Dr. Khaled Battal Al-Najim, announced today, Tuesday, that he directed the work of the Social Fund for Development towards supporting the poorest governorates and the camps for the displaced, which are still present in some governorates, through the implementation of more service projects.


This came during a meeting between the Minister and the Executive Department of the Social Fund for Development and the poverty alleviation strategy, in the presence of the Undersecretaries of the Ministry, for technical and administrative affairs.

The Minister pointed out that $ 262 million was allocated from the World Bank loan granted to the Fund, to implement service projects in poor villages, depending on the poverty rate and population, indicating the importance of projects implemented under the fund’s umbrella, to enable citizens in poor villages to access To basic services, which include water and sewage projects, health and education, and according to the priorities determined by the population, pointing out that these projects contributed to providing suitable job opportunities for the people of those villages, as well as enhancing the confidence of the citizen in the state and the government, as it depends planning from the bottom up, emphasizing Applying development standards in implementing projects in light of the standard documents of government contracts.

The Minister of Planning, the international community, and the United Nations organizations called for supporting the efforts of the Ministry and the Iraqi government in providing better living conditions for the displaced in the displacement camps, and working to secure the requirements for their return to their areas, within the directions of reconstruction and stabilization in the areas that were subjected to the terrorist occupation of ISIS.

To that, Mrs. Executive Director of the Social Fund for Development, Naglaa Ali Murad, reviewed the reality of the work of the fund, and the projects that are being implemented in the governorates of Muthanna, Salahuddin and Dohuk, and the next steps, to include a number of other governorates, according to the criteria of poverty and population, indicating the presence of great satisfaction By the residents of the villages covered, with support, and their aspirations for more services, to improve their realities.
