Baghdad - people

Ali al-Tamimi, an expert on legal affairs, saw that Turkey could not rely on the previous agreement with the former regime, to penetrate northern Iraq and pursue the PKK.

Al-Tamimi stated in a statement to "People" (June 20, 2020) that "Turkey cannot invoke the agreement with the previous regime, to penetrate into Iraqi territory, because this agreement was not renewed after 2003, and a copy of it was not deposited with the United Nations, according to Article 102. Of its charter. "

He added that "after the Iraqi regime changed in 2003, there was a parliament, and the law ratifying the agreements approved that two-thirds of the parliament approve any treaty or agreement, and this did not happen in the agreement with Turkey, which it currently relies on."

He noted that "Iraq can file a complaint against Turkey according to what we mentioned, and Turkey cannot invoke Article 51 of the Charter, which provides the right to legal defense."

He continued, "Turkey must solve the problem with the Labor Party, and the party's President Ocalan is far from Iraqi soil."

On Saturday, Turkish Defense Minister Khulusi Akar announced that the forces participating in the "Tiger's Claw" operation have bombed more than 700 PKK targets since they were launched inside Iraqi territory.

A ministry statement, followed by "Nass", (June 20, 2020), stated that "Akar made an inspection tour at a military point near the 'Tiger Claw' operation area, accompanied by Turkish army leaders, to follow up the operation of the operation from the command center on the border."

Akar pointed out that "the Turkish armed forces stormed and destroyed the dens and hideouts of terrorists over their heads in the framework of the military operation."

He continued that "since the beginning of the operation, about 150 caves and a large amount of ammunition were controlled and more than 160 explosive devices were destroyed, in addition to bombing more than 700 targets."

[size=20]On Thursday, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Turkish ambassador to Baghdad, and delivered a strongly worded protest note, calling for the end of "provocative acts ".

A statement by the ministry, which received "people", a copy of it (June 18, 2020), "Iraq condemns in the strongest terms the condemnation and denunciation of the return of the Turkish forces on June 17, violating the sanctity of the country and its sovereignty by bombing and attacking targets within our international borders."

"We affirm our categorical rejection of these violations that violate international covenants and laws, and we stress the necessity of the Turkish side's commitment to stop the bombing and the withdrawal of its aggressive forces from the Iraqi territories that they invaded yesterday and from their locations in Bashiqa camp and others."

He continued, "The Iraqi government affirms that Turkey was the reason for the increase in insecurity in the shared border area between us. The (peace initiative) that it adopted with the PKK in 2013 caused the settlement of many elements of this Turkish party inside Iraqi territory without approval or consultation with Iraq: Which prompted us to protest at the Security Council at the time. "

The statement stressed that "summoning the Turkish ambassador in Iraq today and submitting a strongly worded protest note," calling for "to desist from such provocative acts and rejected violations," asking the Turkish government to "listen to the voice of wisdom, put an end to these attacks, and also retain Iraq has its legitimate rights to take all measures that will protect its sovereignty and the safety of its people, including demanding the Security Council and regional and international organizations to fulfill their responsibility.
