[ltr]On Monday, The Minister of Planning, Mr. Dr. Khalid Batal al-Najm, congratulated the press family in Iraq for its 151th anniversary.[/ltr]

[ltr]In his congratulatory message to Mr. Iraqi Journalist supremo Muayyad al-Lami, Dr. Khaled Batal al-Najm called on the importance of preserving the freedom of the press guaranteed by the Constitution, ensuring the rights of journalists and allowing them to perform their duties, as an effective authority and a real partner in achieving development and serving the citizen, He praised the efforts and sacrifices made by the press family in Iraq in various fields, as a result of those sacrifices, the fall of many martyrs, wounded and absent, praising the outstanding performance of Iraqi journalists, who were brave and performing their tasks with high professionalism, pointing out To the importance of the supervisory role of the media, in diagnosing the challenges and negatives and its statement to the public opinion and the concerned parties in the solution, and to show the positive aspect in the stages of the work of the public and private sectors, pointing out[/ltr]
[ltr]To make such events an opportunity to remind and celebrate the basic principles of free journalism, and to assess the journalistic reality, expressing his wishes to the press family for further progress and prosperity.[/ltr]
