Economy News _ Baghdad
The International Smart Card Company (Qi) and the company "Cork Telecom" Telecom announced on Monday the signing of a preliminary partnership contract to expand electronic payment services and provide extended financial services.
A joint statement of the two companies said, "Economy News" received a copy of it, that "a letter of intent was signed on partnership and cooperation in providing a wide range of financial services to the citizens of Kurdistan and Iraq."
The statement added, "The two companies that lead the country in the relevant sectors and in support of the initiatives of the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to promote financial inclusion, have agreed to work together to provide a set of telecommunications and financial services that will further enhance citizens' access to electronic payments and trade via the Internet." This is in line with the efforts made by the Iraqi government to rationalize financial services and limit the circulation of paper currency in the country. "
"We are very excited to sign this agreement, and it represents a new opportunity for both companies to continue their role in pushing the country forward, and the efforts made by the Central Bank and the central government to increase transparency while providing citizens with the possibility," said Chairman of the Board of Directors (ISC) Bahaa Abdul Hadi, according to the statement.
Access to financial services in an accessible way and attracting capital at an international level is something that the two companies have supported for many years, and this agreement marks a turning point in enhancing effort and expertise to provide electronic financial services for an easier life. "
The statement also quoted the Chairman of the Board, "Cork", as saying, "Two of the best examples of success in Iraq have met and they are the most important success stories for the private sector. They agreed to activate the principle of cooperation and provide better services to our subscribers and access to them, this is exactly what is required.
"At a time when there is an urgent need for this service in the country, we are very happy to work with ISC and we hope this partnership will provide exactly what our subscribers want when they need it most."
The statement pointed out that "the details of the partnership will be revealed further as the two companies improve their initial and subsequent cooperation, and this represents a new era of cooperation and collaboration between Iraqi companies, which gives real importance to the private and mixed sector in improving the national economy and the level of services provided to citizens."
