The Minister of Planning, Prof. Dr. Khaled Battal Al-Najem received, today, Monday, in his office at the Ministry’s Cabinet, Mr. Iraj Masjidy, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq.
And while the Minister praised the Iranian support for Iraq in various fields, stressing the Iraqi government's keenness to increase the level of joint cooperation between the two countries, the two sides discussed during the meeting a number of issues and files related to bilateral relations, ways of developing them, and among the issues that were discussed :
Cooperation between Iraq and Iran in the fight against the "Corona" pandemic, by strengthening the capabilities of both countries for each other.
Increasing the volume of trade exchange, achieving a balance between revenues and exports, as well as energy cooperation
Facilitating procedures for examining goods and merchandise exchanged, to ensure that they are not delayed at border crossings, especially food.
Increasing the volume of cooperation between the two countries, in the scientific and research fields, and providing the best conditions for Iraqi students studying in Iranian universities, in addition to organizing the movement of Iraqi and Iranian visitors to the holy shrines in the two countries.
Encouraging mutual investments, providing appropriate conditions for the work of Iranian companies in Iraq, and working to activate agreements and memoranda of understanding concluded between Iraq and Iran.
To that, Ambassador Masjedi extended his congratulations to the Minister of Planning on the occasion of his expansion of his duties, expressing his country's readiness to provide the Iraqi government support in the economic, medical, scientific and investment fields.

He explained that "during the meetings with Iraqi officials, they discussed the previous agreements, including the program to rehabilitate the Iraqi electricity industry by the Iranian private sector and Iran's dues towards its exports of electricity to Iraq."
He stressed that "it was decided that technical and specialized teams from the Iranian private sector will visit Iraq next week to sign two important agreements in the field of reducing energy waste in the Iraqi electricity distribution network, as well as the repair and rehabilitation of Iraqi electricity equipment and devices."
He expressed his satisfaction with the results of the visit, noting that "he also spoke on behalf of other ministries about finding more facilities for commercial exchange in other fields between the two countries."
It is noteworthy that the Iranian Energy Minister, Reza Ardakanian, visited Baghdad yesterday, on an official visit, at the head of a high-level delegation, and met with Iraqi officials and discussed with them bilateral relations between Iraq and Iran, especially in the field of oil and electricity.

The Iranian Energy Minister, Reza Ardakianian, expressed his satisfaction with the results of his visit to Iraq, pointing to the signing of an agreement to export Iranian electricity to Iraq for a period of two years.
