The US State Department had placed Al-Mawla on the terrorism list in mid-March
On Monday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo welcomed the inclusion in the sanctions list of the United Nations Security Council, leader of the terrorist organization ISIS, Prince Muhammad Abd al-Rahman al-Mawla.
Pompeo said in a tweet on Twitter, that the United States welcomes this inclusion, adding that it is "an important step taken by the international community to ensure the permanent defeat of ISIS."
The UN Security Council had previously placed Mawla on the sanctions list.
The Council’s Sanctions Committee decided to include Al-Mawla, an Iraqi, on the sanctions list in accordance with Resolution No. 2368 on imposing sanctions on ISIS and Al-Qaeda, for “planning activities on behalf of ISIS and Al-Qaeda and financing these organizations.”
The committee stated that "The Lord played a role in kidnapping and killing the Yezidis and trafficking in human beings."
It is noteworthy that the US State Department placed al-Mawla on the terrorist list in mid-March.
