Economy News - Baghdad:
The Central Bank of Iraq denied reports that trading in credits is taking place in favor of Lebanese banks through the foreign currency sale window.
The central bank said in a press statement received by "Al-Iqtisad News", " These days, inaccurate news, data and figures are being circulated about the trading of credits taking place in favor of Lebanese banks, through the foreign currency sale window."
He added, "The Central Bank of Iraq would like to confirm that all the transferred amounts are in response to requests for imports for Iraqi companies. It has previously chosen the bank that opens the credit for the purpose of importing, knowing that the bank does not receive due to this process other than commission only . "
He stressed that these sums are not transferred to Lebanon, but rather to the country of origin of the goods, and through the American Federal Bank, given that the transfer is in US dollars, which means that there is no payment process in dollars in cash .
