On Wednesday 4/3/2020, the Youth and Sports Committee headed by MP Abbas Alewi, Chairman of the Committee and in the presence of a member of the Deputy Committee, Bida Khadr, and the Director of the Engineering Department, Mr. Abdul Najim Al-Wahid, and the Director of Planning and Follow-up, Mr. Iyad Tariq at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, discussed the slowdown of projects for 2019 and the possibility of increasing financial allocations To the Ministry in the state's federal budget for 2020.

Mr. Chairman of the Committee stressed during the hosting that was held at the committee’s headquarters that there are (133) slack projects at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, stressing the need to know the reasons for the Ministry’s delay in completing its projects, as well as its readiness to establish the Gulf Cup championship to be held in Basra Governorate, in addition to The Arab Championship, which Iraq is likely to host this year.

For his part, the Director General stressed that the dilapidated projects that if they are proceeded will provide job opportunities for unemployed youth, explaining that sport is an outlet for youth and it helps him to invest his time with something useful, explaining that the Al Zawra and Mina stadiums each need an amount ( 15) One billion Iraqi dinars to complete, stating that the Al-Zawraa Stadium was supposed to be opened during this year.

Mr. Iyad Tariq added that the ministry is ready to hold the Gulf Cup championship in Basra Governorate, noting the importance of completing the Mina Stadium in order to be a substitute stadium for the main stadium in the Sports City, noting that the Ministry is currently not ready to establish the Arab Championship because it needs specialized sports halls for all sports and what Available that does not accommodate the size of the participating teams, indicating that the Ministry has addressed the concerned governorates in setting up the championship in them for joint cooperation in achieving sports halls by providing financial cover from its budgets implemented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and there is a response between Alo Wara and the provinces.
