The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs confirmed, on Monday, that the launch of the emergency grant for the second month of the unemployed is linked to the provision of financial allocations within the budget for the year 2020.

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Bassem Abdel-Zaman said in a statement seen by Al-Iqtisad News that “the ministry addressed the concerned authorities for the purpose of monitoring the financial allocations for the second emergency grant for the unemployed,” denying “any launch of the grant at the present time due to the lack of its financial allocations.”

He added, "The first emergency grant included nine payments to those covered, and it was launched after the ministry monitored its amounts from its own budget."

Abdul-Zaman stressed that "the ministry hopes that the emergency grant will be launched after providing the financial allocation within the 2020 budget, as it seeks to include the largest possible number of unemployed people who did not show their names, but that depends on the amounts that will be allocated in this regard."

The Minister of Labor called on the media to "avoid spreading the wrong information without referring to the official websites approved by the ministry, because there are fake websites that claim to be linked to the ministry and promote false news."
