Dhi Qar Oil Company announced, on Sunday, that Iraq lost 100,000 barrels of oil from its production due to the closure of the largest field in the province after it was closed by protesters.

The company said in a statement, seen by "Al-Iqtisad News", that the wells and gas isolation stations of the Nasiriyah field were closed at dawn yesterday, Saturday (December 28, 2019), after the local government was unable to provide protection to the field staff who were exposed to great pressure and cut off the roads leading to the field before Tribes that live near the field, in addition to two graduates from the Al-Batha district, near it, noting that "Iraq lost today 100,000 barrels of oil from its production."

The company pointed out that "Al-Nasiriya field, which has a large reserve and production, which was planned to reach 200 thousand of the national effort fields, which was built by Dhi Qar Oil Company on an area of 578 km."

Dhi Qar Oil Company stated, "The field is preparing a large gas station that was opened recently to supply gas-powered electricity stations in the province," noting that it "provided large and varied services to the province, such as the benefits of abusive families, orphans and martyrs' families, establishing projects, schools, and medical centers, and contributing to campaigns." Covering roads and holding scientific conferences in coordination with universities in Dhi Qar.

At the end of its statement, the company asked, "Does this company deserve someone to put a stick in the wheel of its movement, growth and development?"
