The head of the Iranian Hajj and Visitation Organization, Ali Reza Rashidian, announced on Tuesday, that three airports have been designated for transporting visitors to holy sites in Iraq.

Rashedian said in statements reported by "Fars" agency and seen by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the convoys of visitors heading to the holy shrines in Iraq are currently carried out only by air and through 3 airports, which are Tehran and Mashhad / Northeast / Kerman / Southeast /".

"The registration of the names of those wishing to visit the holy shrines in Iraq began days ago, and in the event of increasing requests in other provinces, it is possible to increase the number of airports designated for visitors' caravans to facilitate the movement of caravans."

He continued: "Mahan Aviation is sending its planes to the Najaf airport only. In the event that the Mehran border crossing is opened, the number of visitors will increase by conducting land convoys."
