Al-Halbousi's office said in a statement, Alsumaria News received a copy of it, that the latter "met today, Sunday, in Arbil, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, to discuss the political situation in the country, and choose a candidate to head the Council of Ministers."
The two parties stressed, according to the statement, "the assistance of the partners to nominate the new prime minister, in line with the aspirations of all the Iraqi people," noting that "during the meeting, the laws currently presented in the Iraqi parliament, including the Iraqi parliament elections law, were discussed."
He added: "The meeting also discussed the latest developments on the international and regional scene, and emphasized the need to strengthen Iraq's relations with its Arab, regional and international surroundings."
