The head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Millie, reiterated US support for the Iraqi people in their defense of a free, independent and sovereign Iraq, away from the obstacles caused by corruption and malicious foreign influence.
A statement by the US Embassy in Baghdad received a copy of the Euphrates News, "General Mark Milli visited Baghdad on November 26 and 27, to discuss the strategic partnership between the United States and Iraq and the current security environment in Iraq and the Middle East, President met with the Minister Defense Mr. Najah al - Shammari and Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army Lt. Gen. Othman Al - Ghanmi.
General Milli highlighted "continued efforts to strengthen defense partnerships and cooperation between the United States and Iraq," noting "the importance of bilateral relations and the common goal of a united, democratic and prosperous Iraq."
He also condemned "the killing and kidnapping of protesters and activists, threats to freedom of expression and the cycle of violence."

Defense Minister Najah al-Shammari discussed with US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Millie on Wednesday cooperation in training, arming and capacity building. In a statement received by Al-Sabah, the Ministry of Defense said that al-Shammari met with Milli and his accompanying delegation. Meanwhile, Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Usman al-Ghanmi welcomed the commander of the Joint Forces in Naples, Gen. James Fogo, and the head of the NATO mission in Iraq, Gen. Jenny Cardenia. Al-Ghanmi said, according to a second ministry statement:
