Economy News _ Baghdad
Iraq ranked second with the impact of the economic cost of terrorism on the country for the latest data contained in the global terrorism index issued by the Institute of Economics and Peace for 2019.
According to the report, the economic cost of terrorism was highest in Afghanistan, where it touched 20% of Afghanistan's GDP.
Terrorism cost Libya 1.2% of its GDP, Somalia 1.1% of its GDP, and Yemen 0.6% of its GDP.
The economic cost of terrorism is calculated according to four indicators: mortality, injuries, property losses and national product losses.
It also includes the calculation of the economic cost of terrorism, government expenditures on medical services, declining production and incomes, as well as psychological effects on those affected by terrorism.
