The Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) said Monday it will hold a conference in the Jordanian capital Amman to support South Korean companies' participation in Iraq's reconstruction projects.
"14 South Korean engineering, procurement and construction ( EPC ) and equipment companies, such as Doosan and Hyosung Heavy Industries, will participate in the event," Yonhap news agency reported .
Eight Iraqi institutions, including the Ministry of Electricity, responsible for energy projects in the country, the Ministry of Transport that manages the Fao Peninsula project, and the Ministry of Construction and Housing, which is responsible for the water and sanitation project, will also participate.
Jordan is close to Iraq geographically, and South Korea and Jordan signed an agreement to boost economic cooperation last year, an official at Kotra said, adding that Jordan's importance in the market for Iraq's reconstruction projects has increased.
