The Supreme Judicial Council on Saturday denied issuing an arrest warrant for the leader of the "victory" coalition, former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, stressing that the Ministry of Interior is competent to implement the arrest warrants.

The council's media center said in a statement sent to Shafaq News by e-mail that it "reviewed the statement of the Victory Coalition regarding (attempt to besiege Abadi's house and inquire about the existence of a warrant against him or not)." ".

The statement added that in the event of a warrant issued by the judiciary against any person, the competent authorities to implement them are the official bodies of the State represented by the Ministry of Interior, which is a body known to all follow the public legal contexts.

The Victory Coalition said in a statement that "the Judicial Council did not issue any clarification regarding (the siege of the house of Abadi), which issued clarifications and denied in fabricated inferior issues."

There were conflicting reports about the siege of a masked group on Friday night Abadi's house in the fortified Green Zone, as confirmed by close to the latter, but security authorities deny this, including a spokesman for the commander of the armed forces.
