The delegation of the Iraqi Council of Representatives on Wednesday 30/10/2019 participated in the meetings of the Standing Committees of the Arab Parliament in preparation for the plenary session to be held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo on Thursday 31/10/2019 to discuss a number of important Arab issues, especially the demonstrations in Iraq. And Lebanon.
The Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Arab Parliament, Dhafer Al-Ani, participated in the meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Political and National Security, which focused on discussing the political and security developments in some Arab countries and the developments of joint Arab action.
MP Ahmed al-Jubouri also attended the meeting of the Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs to study the draft budget of the Arab Parliament for 2020, and discuss a number of draft laws to facilitate trade exchange and transport in the world, and a number of parliamentary visions in the economic field, including the vision of electrical link between Arab countries and a vision to activate Arab Common Market.
The Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Committee discussed the situation of human rights in the State of Palestine, as well as the completion of the discussion of the outcomes of the Symposium on the Death Penalty in the Arab States and the guarantees of implementation and a guiding law on this and the study of the draft Guide to Parliamentarians to legislate and monitor the application of human rights in the Arab world.
The Committee on Social Affairs, Women and Youth focused on the study of the draft document on the development of education in the Arab world, and the study of a number of draft laws guiding in the field of cultural and social, including the Law on the preservation of Arab antiquities, and the social safety net, and combating Arab illiteracy.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is scheduled to address the Arab Parliament meeting on Thursday to review the latest developments concerning the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. The meeting will issue a resolution on solidarity with Egypt to protect its water security.
The session will also discuss the ongoing demonstrations in Iraq and Lebanon in order to come up with important recommendations in this regard.
