The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights issued a statement regarding the demonstrations in Iraq for the period from 25-30 / 10/2019.

The statement added that the clashes resulted in the death of (100) people and the injury of (5500) demonstrators and security forces and the arrest of (399) released (343) of them and damaging (98) buildings of public and private property.

"The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights calls on the demonstrators and security forces to stay away from friction and strictly abide by the peacefulness of the demonstrations and to refrain from any deliberate or unintended violence that could lead to more casualties between the parties."

"The security forces should apply the criteria of security clashes, protect public and private property and facilitate the access of immediate ambulance and civil defense teams to the places of demonstrations," the commission said. It also calls on the security forces to facilitate the tasks of media and media channels and prevent any violation against them, and calls for a national conference under the auspices of the United Nations to develop solutions. The Commission calls on the government to compensate the martyrs, the wounded and detainees physically and morally for the damages they suffered. "
