Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim met with Dutch Foreign Minister Steve Block and discussed prospects of improving relations between the two countries and pushing for expansion of bilateral cooperation to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.
Minister al-Hakim briefed his counterpart on the latest situation in Iraq and the government's efforts in implementing its government program, including: meeting the demands of youth, and stressing that the reform process pursued by Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi is proceeding effectively, and will achieve the desired goals with the cooperation of all.
He praised the support provided by the Dutch side to Iraq in confronting the ISIS terrorist gangs within the framework of the international coalition, stressing the importance of continuing the training of Iraqi military forces.
The two sides discussed benefiting from the Dutch experiences in the field of oil, agriculture and water, which positively reflects on job creation and development in Iraq.
The two ministers discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest. Minister Hakim stressed the importance of restraint to peaceful solutions and calm, usually that the escalation in the region will not serve any party.
For his part, the Dutch Foreign Minister expressed optimism about the outcome of this visit, which the minister's visit to The Hague will bring about a positive development in relations between the two friendly countries.

Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim met with Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sigrid Kach as part of his visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and increase coordination between them on international issues of common interest, especially those related to investment in the fields of agriculture, livestock and management. Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed Ali al-Hakim met with Dutch Minister of Immigration Anke Brokers and discussed the possibility of cooperation between the two ministries of immigration in both countries. The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dr. Hisham Al Alawi, signed a framework agreement for diplomatic cooperation between the Iraqi Foreign Service Institute and the Dutch Institute of International Clinkdale.
The agreement included strengthening cooperation between the two sides in the fields of training, development of diplomatic skills, capacity building, exchange of information and experience on diplomatic education and training programs, seminars and other academic training activities of their respective countries.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim, and the signing of this agreement was the end of his visit to the Netherlands, which comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
It is worth mentioning that the Clinkdale Institute is one of the world's most prestigious international institutes, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Diplomat from the senior staff at the State Department last year.

Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim gave a lecture at the Dutch Institute of International Relations, Kleinkdal, entitled: “Iraq in the Middle East: Conflict or Bridge to Meet”.
In his lecture, the Minister focused on the political, economic and security priorities of the partnership between Iraq and the European Union, in addition to highlighting the important points of Iraq's foreign policy aimed at strengthening relations with neighboring countries, as well as the measures taken by the Iraqi government to build the best relations with all countries of the world, reviewing developments The situation in Syria, Yemen, the crisis between America and Iran, and the tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran, illustrating the efforts made by Iraq to bring views closer and calm the situation in the region.
He also touched on important developments in Iraq's relationship with the Netherlands, welcoming the success of the first round of political consultations held in The Hague in February 2018, and expressed the hope that the second round will be held in Baghdad before the end of this year.
The Minister expressed his appreciation for the positions of the Dutch government in support of Iraq politically, security and economically, in particular the decision of the Dutch government to place Iraq among the countries of special interest, and the resulting strategy to support Iraq in the sectors of water management, agriculture and education.
He explained that Iraq is working to develop its economy, create enough job opportunities for young people, and began to rebuild its infrastructure after it finally defeated the terrorist organization Daesh, and achieved clear stability.
The Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Dutch side for the initiative of the Dutch Institute of International Clinkdale to organize training courses for the Iraqi diplomatic staff, and thanked the IHE Delft Institute for organizing the first session of the staff of the Ministry of Water Resources, which will update the Iraqi national strategy for land and water management.

Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim said that the Iraqi judiciary is committed to prosecuting Iraqi terrorists, or foreigners, if they commit crimes in Iraq.
