The Central Bureau of Statistics announced on Wednesday that the area planted in Iraq amounted to 6.27 million acres during 2018.

The agency said in a report seen by the economy news, that `` the total area of ​​cultivated land in Iraq during 2018 amounted to 6.27 million dunums, constituted the area of ​​land irrigated with surface water the largest area and the amount of 2.70 million dunums, followed by land using water wells by 2.67 million acres And then the lands of the bloody 0.90 million acres.

He added that "the total area covered by reclamation amounted to 12.6 million dunums, constituted the area of ​​fully or partially reclaimed land 5.5 million dunums, and areas under reclamation amounted to 0.3 million dunums and still 6.9 million dunums of land is not reclaimed."

It is noteworthy that Iraq suffered during the last period of lack of arable land despite the existence of two rivers, namely the Tigris and Euphrates as a result of the migration of most peasants and farmers to their agricultural land.
