The seventh regular meeting of the Arab Credit Bureau opened on Sunday morning, 22 September 2019, at the Sofitel Hotel , Abu Dhabi . It is noteworthy that the team emanates from the Board of Governors of Central Banks and Arab Monetary Institutions. Technical Committee.
The team contributes to the development of credit information systems and collateral and mortgages registration systems in Arab countries by advising national authorities to develop and modernize their systems, studying ways of exchanging credit information, as well as the possibility of linking credit information systems in a regional context, taking into account the local legislation and laws of each country. In addition to enhancing cooperation between various Arab institutions and official bodies concerned with credit information systems and between these bodies and international institutions and similar committees and associations. As well as the exchange of experiences and experiences in the field of credit information systems to contribute to keep pace with the growth of activities and financial services and value-added products between Arab countries, in addition to enhancing awareness of the issues of credit information systems through the holding of seminars and workshops .
At its meeting, the team will discuss a number of topics including the framework for the exchange of credit information, the role of credit information in supporting the banking sector in the implementation of the Basel and IFRS9 decisions and strengthening risk management, as providing a comprehensive credit information base for customers of banks and other financial companies, Enhances the effectiveness of risk management in financial institutions, reduces customer default rates, and enhances the ability of banks to implement regulatory requirements, in particular those related to Basel III and IFRS9 , which positively improves financial inclusion. The team will also discuss other important issues such as policy guidelines on the use of alternative data and how to coordinate with other official bodies, legal frameworks for the development of credit information systems, in addition to electronic threats to credit information, which may adversely affect the quality of credit information, and will review the experiences of some Arab countries Related to credit information. A dictionary on credit information terminology, which seeks to standardize terminology related to credit information in the Arab countries, will be discussed.
It should be noted that the Arab Monetary Fund, in its role as the technical secretariat of the Board of Governors of the Central Banks and Arab Monetary Institutions, is the secretariat of the Committee. The Fund's tasks in this regard are based on the preparation of the agenda, contribution to the studies and reports prepared by the Committee and follow-up to the recommendations of the Group.
