The United Nations announces the death of hundreds of children in the Hul camp for displaced people in western Kurdistan

At least 390 children have died this year amid inhumane conditions in the Hul refugee camp in Syria, the UN commission of inquiry into Syria said on Wednesday.
"Living conditions remain deplorable," the commission said in its latest report to the UN Human Rights Council, describing developments between January and July.
The Commission's investigators found that children died from malnutrition and untreated wounds, while the camp's population of about 70,000 also suffered from floods, infectious diseases and food shortages.
The autonomous administration of northern and eastern Syria is run by the Hul camp in the eastern city of al-Hasakah in western Kurdistan (Kurdistan Syria).
In a statement last May, the UN Human Rights Committee said that the aid provided to the Houl camp was totally inadequate and called on the international community to make every effort to provide humanitarian assistance to the camp's residents.
