According to MarkZ's buddy Fleming, what makes the Zim trillion notes bonds is that they say 'pay to the bearer' on them.

Well, he's right about that phrase being on the notes, at least. However, that alone does not make them bonds. If he had taken his own advice and done a little research, he would have found out that because fiat currencies have no inherent value to them (only worth the paper they're written on), they only have value because countries back them legally by saying they are payable on demand to the holder.

The zim notes are currency, not bonds. They were issued as currency and are supposed to be in the first basket with the other fiat currencies. We will exchange them, not cash them in like one would do with a real bond.

At least, that's our hope.
