Egypt and Iraq discuss cooperation in the field of renewable energy

Cairo- Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy discussed with the Iraqi Ambassador in Cairo and his accompanying delegation ways of supporting and enhancing aspects of joint cooperation in the field of electricity and energy between Egypt and Egypt.
The Minister of Electricity said that the meeting comes within the framework of the Egyptian electricity sector plan to open new markets for Egyptian companies outside Egypt, pointing out that the meeting witnessed the needs of Iraq energy .
Mohamed Shaker, in a statement on Tuesday, the Egyptian government support to the brotherly state of Iraq in all areas, including electricity, noting that all the potential of the Egyptian electricity sector available to serve the electricity sector in Iraq .
Shaker pointed to the success of the sector thanks to the active support of the political leadership in overcoming the challenges faced during the past period and stabilizing the national grid and cover the gap between production and demand for electricity through a number of measures, initiatives and reform policies to launch the process of energy transformation and secure and sustainable electricity Improving energy efficiency and opening markets for private sector investments in various fields of traditional and renewable energy and smart grids, as well as enhancing transparency and governance of the sector .
"The Egyptian energy sector has also succeeded in turning the energy deficit into a surplus by adding 25,000 megawatts over the past four years, which contributed to the elimination of the energy deficit and the provision of adequate electricity reserves . "
The Minister of Electricity said that the sector is currently working to improve and develop the transmission and distribution networks, including high-voltage transformer stations and control centers, in addition to smart grids to strengthen and strengthen the national electrical grid in order to accommodate the new capacities added from renewable energy, and reduce electricity loss in Grid and strengthen electrical connection with neighboring countries .
He added that the strategy of the ministry depends on the transition to smart grids, which will contribute significantly to improve the efficiency of electricity and reduce carbon emissions as well as reduce the investments required for the infrastructure of electrical networks .
Shaker expressed his full readiness to share the Egyptian experience and provide all means of support with all Arab and African countries .
He praised the Iraqi ambassador in Cairo, the Egyptian electricity sector and renewable energy have great experiences in all fields, expressing his desire to benefit from them in the reconstruction of his country.
Ahmed Nayef confirmed his interest in taking the necessary procedures for electrical connection, in addition to cooperation in building human capacities and training to benefit from the Egyptian expertise .
