Kurdistan Parliament demands registration of a complaint with the Federal Court about Iraqi law

The Kurdistan Parliament demanded to register a complaint with the Iraqi Federal Court regarding the Iraqi Financial Management Law.

The Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs in the Kurdistan Parliament, on Tuesday, a meeting chaired by the Vice-Chairman of the Committee Hvidar Ahmed in the presence of members and advisors of the Committee.

The meeting witnessed the discussion of the issue of registering a legal complaint with the Iraqi Federal Court on the federal law `` Iraqi financial management '' for 2019, according to a statement of the Kurdistan Parliament, I read (Basnews).

The statement pointed out that after dialogue and exchange of views in this regard was decided to ask the President of the region and the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government to register a complaint about the articles in the said law, which violate the authorities of the Kurdistan region.

The statement added that according to Article (112) of the Iraqi Constitution, the President of the region is required in accordance with Law No. (1) for the year 2005, which confirms that the President of the region represents the masses of Kurdistan and defends the constitutional rights of Kurdistan, to register a complaint with the Federal Court.

The statement said that the meeting also discussed the report of the Finance and Economic Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Kurdistan on the role of the Office of Financial Supervision of the Kurdistan Region, noting that the Committee reached several decisions, including activating the role of the Office of Financial Supervision in accordance with Law No. 9 of 2008 so that the doors of all institutions of the region open to Financial Supervision.

He added that the office of the President of the Presidency of the Presidency ended his legal term on 10/5/2018, which requires the speedy resolution of this position, pointing out that he has not been appointed deputy chief of the Bureau so far and the post remained vacant and must be filled.

He also pointed out that the opening of general directorates of the control bureau in the governorates of Dohuk and Halabja, as well as the organization of the work of the general directorates located in Sulaymaniyah.

The statement called on the Kurdistan Regional Government to activate the role of the Office of Financial Supervision on funds spent within private expenses in the implementation of contracts with foreign companies so that the Office has its role in financial control.

He also called on the Ministry of Finance and Economy to determine the expenses of the Office of Financial Supervision and disbursement of funds, in accordance with the budget, and not to request financial assistance from the Ministry, in order to maintain the independence of the Bureau.
