The Ministry of Industry and Minerals revealed on Tuesday the repercussions of the decisions taken by the Council of Ministers during this year on banning the importation of a number of food products. 

"The decisions taken by the Iraqi Council of Ministers during the current year efforts, intervention and follow-up by the Minister of Industry and Minerals Saleh Abdullah Jubouri, and the resolution No. (167) for the year 2019, which prohibits the import of industrial products (Refreshments, soft drinks, non-carbonated beverages and all types of juices), which came into force on June 1, 2013. The decree prohibits the import of all types of table salt and noodle products.

Al-Shammari said that "these decisions of prevention will cause the lack of import of these materials, which will be reflected on the countries exporting them," said Abdulqadir Kulahsioglu, head of the Federation of the food and beverage industry in Turkey, which touched on this subject. 

He stressed that "these decisions will have a positive and significant impact in the revitalization and recovery of national industry and reduce the volume of dumping unjustified imported products and enhance the competitiveness of local products." 

Shammari stressed that "the Ministry of Industry is continuing in its plans to promote the Iraqi industrial sector and until the achievement of the desired goals in building a competitive Iraqi industry and supportive of the national economy."
