Secretary General of the Council of Ministers: Iraq has significant investment opportunities encouraging German companies to enter the Iraqi market

The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Hamid al-Ghazi, that Iraq has achieved a significant expansion in the scope of international relations, especially witnessed by the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Berlin, pointing out that there are significant investment opportunities to attract international companies, including opportunities for encouraging German companies to enter the Iraqi market .

This was met by the German Chargé d'affaires in Baghdad, Mr. Eugen Mueller, and the Country Director of the German Development Cooperation Organization, Thomas Schaf and their accompanying delegation. He praised the role of the German Development Cooperation Agency and the impact of their activities to support Iraq's stabilization projects, most notably the achievements in humanitarian fields and mine clearance in cooperation with the United Nations .

For his part, outlined the work of the Agency and the most important activities and achievements and provided a picture of the package of projects and programs currently implemented, which is hoped to expand in the future in Iraq, to include water infrastructure projects, electricity and schools and reconstruction in Nineveh province, as well as the southern provinces, which is a priority now and in cooperation with Iraqi government agencies and relevant NGOs .

The two sides also discussed several issues, including the future of political relations, military cooperation and the economic file, as well as the timing of the agenda of the meetings related to the restoration of stability and reconstruction for the next stage .

The value of the assistance provided by Germany to Iraq since 2014 amounted to about one billion and six million dollars, and in 2018 and 2019 provided about 450 million dollars, including various humanitarian aid, and other in the reconstruction of liberated areas, and demining in cooperation with the United Nations .
