Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Fatih Yildiz, announced that the Consulate General of his country in the city of Mosul will enter service again soon.
"This came on the sidelines of a joint press conference with the Governor of Nineveh, Mansour al-Murad, during a visit to the Nineveh Provincial Council, the Mosul Chamber of Commerce and the Presidency of the University of Mosul," a statement by the Turkish embassy said.
Yildiz noted that "Turkey has very strong humanitarian, cultural and historical ties with Mosul, and his visit comes to confirm Ankara's confidence and commitment to the reconstruction of Iraq, especially Mosul."
He explained that he "is in contact with the local authorities in Mosul on the projects of trade, investment, transport and transport, stressing that the city needs reconstruction and economic development."
"We got the approval of the central government in June to reopen the consulate and the consulate will start working as soon as possible," Yildiz said.
"Turkey is cooperating with the local authorities in Mosul on combating the PKK terrorist organization in the Sinjar district of Mosul," Yildiz said.
