Economy News Baghdad

Minister of Trade Mohammad Hashim Al-Ani announced the purchase of about 4 million tons of local wheat, which is making the country self-sufficiency of that strategic crop.
Al-Ani said in a statement read by "Economy News" that "the quantities marketed by farmers this year are more than all seasons during the previous decades."

The government announced in June that it had bought 2.5 million tonnes of local wheat.
The Ministry of Agriculture expected domestic wheat production in the 2018-2019 season to reach 3 million tonnes due to increased rainfall.
