A US magazine warned of the consequences of Washington's attack on Iran, noting that this move could spread chaos in the Middle East.
The National Interest magazine said in a report yesterday that some voices within the administration of US President Donald Trump are pushing for military action against Iran, noting that they support their vision of concerns over Iran's nuclear program.
This comes despite Iran's compliance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the Comprehensive Comprehensive Action Plan (the Nuclear Agreement) and the Safeguards Agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on its peaceful nuclear programs.
Other voices within the Trump administration are based on what Iran's sponsorship of terrorist organizations is or use of US interests in the region as a pretext for military action against Tehran, according to the magazine, which indicated that this represents a narrow and non-historical view, A region steeped in extremism.
"Any military action by Washington or its allies against Tehran would be a grave mistake," she said, noting that in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks, the Iranian government handed over copies of three hundred al-Qaida-linked passports to the United Nations, Support for search and rescue, humanitarian relief and assistance in US operations in Afghanistan, and support for then Deputy Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Ryan Crocker.
The documents found at the headquarters of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad revealed that many members of the terrorist group tried to flee to Iran after the United States invaded Afghanistan in 2003, Iran arrested a number of its prominent members, at the time.
The magazine said that any US military campaign against Iran would be expensive, because the Iranian army is better organized and equipped than many countries in the region, noting that it can use medium-range missiles against US installations in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Qatar, Bahrain and other US allies in the Gulf , In addition to its ability to hit US naval vessels.
The magazine added: "so that America can prevent the danger of Iran to destroy all means of air defense and destroy missile capabilities in a short time, so as to deprive them of the ability to target US military facilities, and without it will become very large cost
The magazine compared the occupation of Iraq, Of $ 2 trillion and caused the spread of chaos in Iraq nearly two decades ago, and any military action against Iran, which may require the occupation of more population in the largest area of Iraq.
