Iraq has passed important milestones to enhance the role of women and empower them to participate in public life

Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Hamid Al-Ghazi said that Iraq has passed important steps to enhance the role of women, in addition to adopting policies, programs and strategies that contributed to enable them to participate in the fields of public life.
This came during a meeting with the UN Country Director for Women in Iraq, Ms. Dina Zorba, and the Secretariat of the National Security Council Resolution 1325, to discuss the requirements of implementing the second generation of the resolution.
The Secretary-General stressed the need to unite efforts and work under one umbrella, to manage the affairs of Iraqi women, to meet the requirements for the advancement of the reality and response to urgent needs, as well as remove obstacles to increase their participation in various areas,
For her part, Zorba appreciated the political commitment and awareness of UN organizations to translate legislation and laws into real success projects, pointing out the importance of increasing coordination between the government, civil society organizations and the private sector to secure dialogue and partnership towards institutionalizing and maximizing the role of women in Iraq.
