The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Hamid Al-Ghazi stressed the need to coordinate efforts and overcome the obstacles to the implementation of the government curriculum set by the government and its policy in focusing on developing the reality of the business environment and improving the investment climate in Iraq. He pointed to the importance of adopting real steps to attract investments to the country, Public and private sectors to implement strategic projects that are positively reflected on the national economy and are in line with the aspirations of Iraqi society.
This came during an expanded meeting held at the Secretariat building, attended by representatives of the relevant sectoral bodies, as well as representatives of the private sector and a number of local experts and investors, to review and amend laws, legislation and procedures for improving the business and investment environment in Iraq.
The agenda of the meeting included six main axes: (a) a database of land offered as investment opportunities, facilities and bank loans, ports and customs, registration of companies, granting of entry features, promotion of the tourism sector); discussion of ways to deal with procedures related to each axis; The meeting discussed the paper presented by the Iraqi Economic Council concerning the facilities granted by the government to support the private sector.
The meeting concluded with a number of recommendations, including setting the beginning of next week as the last date for including the proposals for the development of these axes, taking into consideration the legal cover for the procedures that will be amended and agreed upon before finalizing them to the Council of Ministers for decision. And the management of business and investment projects to promote the country's current situation in different sectors.
