"The two countries discussed investment opportunities in Iraq on the sidelines of the visit of the Iraqi prime minister to Saudi Arabia last week," said Ibrahim Al-Omar, head of the Saudi-Saudi Joint Investment and Development Committee.

He said in an interview with "Al Arabiya" that the meeting was successful by all standards, an extension of the previous meetings, and discussed the investment opportunities in Iraq, which was presented to the private sector in Saudi Arabia.

He also pointed out that the challenges faced by Saudi investors in Iraq were discussed with the Iraqi delegation to work to overcome them.

He pointed out that Saudi exports to Iraq grew by more than 70 per cent, but considered that the figures are not satisfactory so far and expected to increase significantly after the opening of the line "New Arar" linking the Kingdom and Iraq.

For his part, said Nuri al-Dulaimi, Iraqi Planning Minister that Saudi Arabia and Iraq discussed several issues, most notably the activation of agreements and memoranda of understanding and stimulate investment between the two countries.
