Re: Appalled by illiteracy on this site
Catherine, there actually IS a point to one's concern over poor grammar in here. We are all reading views of presumptive gurus and others who make various cases about a potential multi-trillion dollar global event. I would feel better knowing that someone who composes such views had an apparent literacy skill above early grade school. Otherwise, I worry that we are dealing with folks who are not as involved in high finance (an educated arena) as they would have us believe.

There are those who are very intelligent, and even possibly well educated that have difficulty with spelling. A book and its' cover?

(That's S-I-T-E... not 'S-I-G-H-T' )
How do any of the Gurus or others bringing information or 'intel' expect to be credible if they can't even use proper English or spell correctly???
Example(s): "BELIEVE ME--OKIE AND MYSELF DOES NOT HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS TO ALL YOUR QUESTIONS-"
BUT THRU EXPERIENCE WE MAY BE ABLE TO HELP SOME OF YOU THAT HASN'T HAD THE OPPORTUNITY...
I realize, MODS, that it isn't your job to correct people's grammar or spelling...
But.... this is truly horrible!
Sometimes when one is tired, as Okie and our dear guru's might be, the spelling or grammar may not be perfect. Just see past this and read the message. If you must see perfect spelling or perfect grammar I am afraid it might be best to move on. There is no one here that really cares about how perfect some things might be...it's the message that is important to us as a whole. Folks are working long, very long hours and it would be nice if you didn't point out their slight mistakes. Perfection is not the name of this site...it's the content of the message that's what this site is all about. Really...how embarrassing for you to bring this up. Really!
From a very poor speller due to med's....but still manages contribute for the common good.
Woops!.... Should some of us had known we were going to be TESTED ,perhaps we would of come prepared. But then again, theres no reward:bball: . And if one should say...."People are viewing your postings and how you spell reflects on what your all about"!....Don't think so....not here for recognition, reputation etc....Now on the other hand, what can anyone offer the "Illiterate spellers" including myself for FREELY providing intel ,moral support, prayer, lets just say we're never expecting nothing in return but still we manage to receive a handsome reward of Satisfaction within. Yep, ill take choice reward #2.....God bless.

Catherine-
I would personally like to extend my own offer to come over and personally tutor you on spelling, or any other academic endeavor that might be troubling you! My expertise also extends to American Sports, beer drinking, body surfing, Alpine skiing, Sports bar caravaning, etc., and after the RV seminars will be held at my retreat on a secluded island off the coast of (A large land mass).
I warn you, though, there may be spanking involved.

Re: Appalled by illiteracy on this site
Good Grief!!! Pygmalyn was just stating her impression and she gets 9 pages predicted to go to 12 getting hammered on stating her opinion on why she would like posters to at least try to spell and/or use words correctly. Why is it so wrong to expect better of us.
I say Thanks and I'll do my best instead of hashing out 9 pages of why we can't do or try to make ourselves better.

Oh well, when it RV's who will care?

DTConcerned, I’ve noted your own egregious, if you will, mistakes in (bold), proving my point... Loosen up! It’s all in fun.
I’m not criticizing anyone here, nor am I trying to insult anyone, other than perhaps myself. I’m throwing something out to bend a few minds and entertain.
..."A couple misspellings"... my response: One (1) word, which during my hasty typing, I admit, I missed the typo later on. (Excerebrose) Which was caught by Councy immediately. Thanks to him for pointing it out.
... "a couple of cases of following rules for derivatives of words that will not show up in dictionaries"... my response: Perhaps not in your more modern North American dictionaries, but still real english words just the same. If you need to confirm any of this, please refer to the Webster’s New International Dictionary of the English Language (Merriam, Springfield and Sydney, 1912).
... "a couple non-English words"... my response: All the words are in english, and that’s the fun in it. Again, not common english I admit. (Notice my own ‘correct’ spelling of the word, ‘english’, here.)
... "enough randomness to sow a lack of full understanding of what you were posting"... my response: I beg to differ. I knew exactly what I was posting, as well as what I was saying. It was what is called an ‘Abecedarian’ (pronounced: A-B, C-der-ean. Meaning: arranged in an alphabetical order; elementary, devoid of sophistication) insult for entertainment. Further, an opinion, stated as I did it, is exactly that... my stated opinion. But thank you for the ‘lesson’, my learned, and fellow philologist. (Pronounced: fe-la-le-jist. Meaning: a person who studies the structure, historical development, and relationships of a language or languages.) Now, the meaning, in layman terms, of what I wrote earlier... which agrees mostly with both Councy and DTConcerned:
"And, not to abnegate (deny oneself), or derogate (detract) from any of this... but this is my opinion:
For those of us who think we’ve got it all figured out, and can’t tolerate the rest of us (notice the referral’s to ‘us’), I say, "You are an apogenous (impotent), bovaristic (conceited), coprolalial (obscene), dasypygal (hairy-butt ), excerebrose (brainless), facinorous (wicked), gnathonic (toad-like), hircine (goat-like), ithyphallic (indecent... polite way of putting it here), jumentous (stable-smelling), kyphotic(hunchbacked), labrose (thick or fat-lipped), mephitic (foul-smelling), napiform (turnip-shaped), oligophrenial (feeble-minded), papuliferous (pimply, or rash covered), quisquilian (collaborating traitor of sorts.. this is the more modern term for it), rebarbative (unattractive and objectionable), saponaceous (soapy), thersitical (foul-mouthed), unguinous (greasy and slimy), ventripotent (gluttonous and fat), wlatsome (loathsome), xylocephalous (wooden-headed), yirning (true, this is an ‘olde’ referral to the more modern ‘yearning’) zoophyte (whining, extremely low animal life form). "
Now, if I had said that in layman terms, it wouldn’t have been as colorful, or fun, now would it?
At times, when we jump to judge others before pausing... on how they’re saying something... then we tend to miss what they might be trying to say, and why. Please, don’t be so quick to judge without really ‘listening’ first.

I once had an acquaintance that walked around the school correcting everyone's language and grammar. It finally became so annoying that noone wanted her around. I am trying to give you a hint. Who cares what you think about the grammar, spelling or how it is said, you are a nobody like the rest of us, please give us a break. I think it bothers Jesus less than it bothers you. We should all, however, retain a modicum of respect for the beliefs of others, even if we don't agree. It is about respecting each other.

councy wrote:I believe it is safe to say that this thread was not to insult anyone in particular, specifically anyone having learning disabilities. Some gurus have such terrible english, that it is a waste of time to try and comprehend what they are actually saying. So, if you want to be understood and not MISUNDERSTOOD, please insure what you want to say can be understood correctly. You might even avoid starting ARGUMENTS !!!!!
BTW, Please do not refer to Jesus Christ as JC. I don't think He would appreciate it. Are we so lazy that we can't even take the time to spell His whole ( and yes .... not hole ) name correctly ?

Also...
Using terms like, "Obummer" is disrespectful of others and alienates those who do not share this opinion of Obama from those who needlessly insult.

Obummer is used by persons who are awake and understand how broke this government and all governments are worldwide. So really, in respect to the people...it is not an insult. He said he would be about change. Well, heck yes he was about change...going in a wrong direction. I would highly recommend that you do some research and see for yourself how broken this government is and how the Occupy movement is spot on with their protests.
And...this is a thread on illiteracy, not politics. Please keep on the thread topic or don't post.

"Obummer" is a use of language, substantially what this thread is about. I am awake and don't use such terms. What I said has to do with respect...

I'm sure that all do the best they can. Agreed, this thread is not about insulting anybody. And the Christians should give the same respect they desire, not directed to anyone in particular.

I would feel better knowing that someone who composes such views had an apparent literacy skill above early grade school. Otherwise, I worry that we are dealing with folks who are not as involved in high finance (an educated arena) as they would have us believe.

I agree, I also love this thread! There have been some incredible, and very intelligent views expressed here.
True, this might have started as an opinion stated by one person, and then it became the ‘herald’ for many. However, at this point it should be purely for fun.
Years ago I started one such thread on an MSN writers site, commenting that we as writers, in hopes of being published, should be paying more attention to our own grammar and spelling before posting... I never expected it to go the few thousand or more responses that it did.
The point is, that no matter how polished a persons postings are, or their text is, there will always be others who have another opinion. And they're right, because there are too many ways to say the same thing in english to expect that our own personal view is the only correct one. Hence an authors popularity, verses obscurity.
"Why so serious?", asked the Joker as played by Heath Ledger.
Loosen up, have fun with it... enjoy, and stop criticizing the length of the thread! People are using this to relieve tension... that I’m sure we all feel from the lack of control over an RV.
This is entertainment, that is doing exactly that... entertaining.
(with a few valid points about spelling... or lack thereof)
