In its report, the World Bank said it expected Egypt to grow by 5.5 percent this year, the largest since 2008, making it one of the best performers among oil importers in the region. The report attributed the reason for the rise in natural gas production, the recovery of tourism and the increase in government investment spending. It is expected that the average ratio of total external debt to GDP in the region will be 30 percent, compared with 40 percent in the GCC.
