The Ministry of Planning announced on Saturday the formation of the Supreme Commission for the General Census of Population and Housing, which is expected to be held in Iraq in the fourth quarter of next year 2020.
The official spokesman of the ministry Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi said in a statement to the twilight News that the body includes in its membership the heads of the National Committee for Population Policies and the Central Statistical Organization, and two representatives of the Kurdistan Regional Government, one of them the head of the statistical authority in the region.
He added that the agency also includes a representative of the House of Representatives, Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Education, Higher Education, Construction, Housing and Municipalities, Culture, Transport, Communications, Agriculture, Water Resources, Migration and Displaced Persons, Health and Environment, Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, National Security, the Undersecretary of the Secretariat of Baghdad, a representative of the Information and Communication Authority, representatives of the Awqaf (Sunni, Shiite and Other Religions) and the Director General of Technical Affairs in the Central Statistical Organization.
Al-Hindawi pointed out that the tasks of the Supreme Commission for the General Population and Housing Census are to approve the comprehensive plan for the census and the sub-plans according to their various phases and time periods and their material and human requirements, determine the methods of disbursement on the census project, supervise and follow up the preparatory work in all stages.
