[ltr](Baghdad: Al-Furat News) Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim and his Arab counterparts participated in the consultative meeting held prior to the start of the ministerial meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States, the 151st session of the Foreign Ministers, currently held in Cairo.[/ltr]

[ltr]A statement issued by his office, received by the {Euphrates News} copy, that "the agenda of the meetings was briefly reviewed, which includes regional and international issues of common concern to Arab countries." [/ltr]

[ltr](Al-Furat News) Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim met with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on the sidelines of the Arab League's meeting of the 151st foreign ministers meeting in Cairo.[/ltr]

[ltr]"The two sides discussed a number of issues of common concern, especially with regard to the future role that Iraq will play in the League of Arab States through its presence in the organization and the nomination of a number of Iraqi personalities to positions within the university," a foreign ministry statement said.
They also referred to "a number of regional and Arab issues, including: Syria, Yemen, the role of the Arab Group, and mechanisms for coordinating their efforts at the United Nations."[/ltr]

This came in a speech at the meeting of the 151st ordinary session of the Council of the League [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/4326/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%84 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A8%D9%8A%D8%A9]of Arab States[/url] at the ministerial level.

Al-Hakim expressed Iraq's support for the international efforts to restore security and stability in Libya and adopt a political solution to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people. He also expressed his concern about the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Yemen due to the continuation of military operations, stressing that all parties should sit at the table of political dialogue to form a government Unity.

Al-Hakim pointed to the importance of the outcome of the Fourth Arab Summit for Development held in Beirut and the importance of the principles that focus on establishing a common Arab economic market, supporting the establishment of a customs union, linking [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/4326/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D9%88%D9%84 %D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A8%D9%8A%D8%A9]the Arab countries[/url] with railways and electricity grid.
