The Ministry of Oil announced on Tuesday that the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy and Oil Minister Thamer Ghadhban talks with a global company to develop the renewable energy sector.
"Oil Minister Thamer Al-Ghadhban discussed with Shire Oak, the director of development for the Middle East and North Africa at Shire Oak, a joint venture in the development of the renewable energy sector," the ministry said in a statement.
"Iraq is seeking to develop the electricity sector by supplying the electrical system with renewable energy sources such as solar energy," the ministry said.
For his part, the company's director Richard Crowe expressed his company's desire to develop the country's energy sector through the construction of solar power plants.
