On Monday, the Association of Iraqi Private Banks organized a course entitled "Capital Planning and Liquidity Planning in accordance with the Basel III Decisions " at its headquarters in Baghdad.
The director of the administration and training in the Association of Iraqi Private Banks, Ahmed Hashemi, during the launch of the session, which was attended by "Economy News", "The session organized by the Association in cooperation with the Central Bank of Iraq and the Union of Arab banks," noting that "it aims to familiarize participants with the most important updates of the Basel Committee and concepts New capital according to Basel III ".
"The session will shed light on the future implementation of Basel III's internal capital adequacy assessment as well as clarifying the role of regulatory authorities in the supervisory review process," he added.
"They target the employees of regulatory authorities, market risk managers, risk analysts and internal auditors," he said.

Background:
The existence of a comprehensive and in-depth mechanism for measuring capital and liquidity is one of the most important pillars of risk management. This mechanism must be able to produce the optimal level of capital and liquidity to support or meet the nature and level of current risk of the bank, the margin of risk that the bank wishes to bear, and its ability to absorb risks.
This workshop will explore the process of capital planning, overall capital adequacy ratios and the ability to maintain capital at stressful times. The objective is to provide a sound basis for evaluating the effectiveness of capital adequacy in line with the risk level and plans to maintain an appropriate level of capital. This theoretical basis will be reinforced with detailed case studies that will allow participants to enhance their knowledge to review the capital planning process, risk assessment in the enterprise through stress or stress tests, and analyze measures that ensure capital support for risk level.
In addition, the workshop will address the issue of liquidity shortage in times of crisis, the plans to be adopted to maintain sufficient and appropriate ratios of liquidity to counter cyclical and unpredictable liquidity in the bank, specifically LCR and NSFR. Participants will be provided with market-oriented examples in the Republic of Iraq With knowledge on liquidity risk management techniques, will provide an overview of recent reforms in liquidity management practices, and will identify transitional arrangements introduced by the Basel Committee for the implementation of new liquidity standards.

Background:

The Iraqi Private Banking Association concluded on Thursday the course "Capital Planning and Liquidity Planning in accordance with the Basel III Decisions " at its headquarters in Baghdad.
More than 40 trainees representing a number of government, private and foreign banks participated in the course.
The director of the administration and training in the Association of Iraqi private banks, Ahmed Hashemi, during the conclusion of the session, which was attended by "economy News", "The session was attended by a number of employees of government banks, private and foreign," noting that "they became aware of these days the most important updates of the Basel Committee And new concepts of capital according to Basel III . "
He added that "the Association of Private Banks seeks to develop the work of the banking sector through the training of banking staff by bringing qualified trainers from outside the country."
