I concur Cleitus... That is exactly what I was thinking... Why now?... So much converging together as we near the end of this monetary reform.... T, and T's ITax’s and Tariff’s) being enacted, which will in turn have an effect on the people of Iraq's purchasing power if the dinar does not receive a big fat raise...

Global market investors are watching 3 events this week

03:28 - 24/02/2019

Continue - Mawazine News

Investors are waiting to start a new week in the global markets in which the upcoming events will vary between political and economic.

The United States is due to announce its economic growth figures for the fourth quarter of 2018, to meet the US president with the North Korean leader.

US economic growth data

The United States will release economic growth data for the fourth quarter of last year on Thursday, amid expectations of a sharp decline.

The release of those data was delayed by 28 days, as a result of the government closure, which may also have an impact on the decline in GDP growth of the world's largest economy.

The US government saw the longest closure in its history and continued since the end of last year until the end of January, as a result of disagreement over the process of financing the construction of the wall of the border with Mexico.

It is estimated that the US economy grew by 2.6% in the last three months of last year, compared to 3.4% in the previous quarter.

The end of the US-China trade truce expires at the end of this week, which required a temporary suspension of tariffs and a trade deal.

Press reports have reported that Donald Trump is considering extending the deadline for a two-month trade truce, but so far no official decision has been made on the issue.

Trump also expressed his willingness to remove all tariffs applied to China if Beijing could reach an appropriate agreement on trade relations.

Top Trump and Kim

US President Kim Jong-un will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on February 27-28 in Vietnam to discuss North Korea's nuclear disarmament talks.

Last week, Trump said he was not in a hurry to conclude a nuclear deal with the North Korean leader.

Trump attributed this to the strong relationship between them and Kim, North Korea's leader, as well as continued application of US sanctions against Pyongyang at the time of the talks.

Vietnam .. Why was chosen to host the Trump and Kim Summit?

This week, the world is heading to Vietnam, specifically its capital, Hanoi, which is hosting the second summit of US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Since the first summit of the two leaders in June in Singapore, questions have been raised about the venue of the second meeting. Many did not expect Vietnam to be, and apart from hosting the 2017 ASEAN Summit, the world does not speak much about the Asian nation.

Vietnam's choice to host the event sends a number of symbolic and practical messages to both parties to the negotiations. It also sends messages to the most important parties related to North Korea's nuclear weapons crisis, North Korea, South Korea and, of course, the United States.

Three Goals

Vietnam has warm relations with the parties to the immediate Korean crisis. The symbolism of Vietnam is aimed at serving three basic goals: a serious message to improve relations between Washington and Pyongyang, and a message from a country that has seen a war with the United States and killed millions. Today, US President Trump is hosting a second time, and has hosted former presidents such as Bill Clinton, .

It is also a clear message to North Korea about the steps it will take to reach Vietnam.

The year 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of Vietnam's invasion of the neighboring state of Cambodia, which has led Vietnam to become a victim of great international isolation. The summit will be an opportunity to reverse the isolation page and its consequences, said Vietnam expert Phyt Fong Nguyen.

The Trump and Jong En event will attract major international media, hundreds of stations and thousands of journalists to cover the event, a rare opportunity to create a new global mental image of Vietnam. The Summit offers a free opportunity to publicize, promote and experience the country.

Historically, Hanoi and Pyongyang have forged strong and solid relations, most notably in North Korea's support of a military Vietnam against the United States. Today, the two countries have a strong ideological alliance in adopting a strict communist political system.

Vietnam shows North Korea how an isolated state can adopt policies that move to an economically viable nation and society, achieving record growth without compromising the strict communist political system. A strategy that Trump and his team hope will be convinced by Kim Jong-un.

War and hostility

In contrast, Vietnam and the United States have forged hostile relations and a war similar to those of Washington and Pyongyang today. Vietnam has succeeded in normalizing its relations with the United States, but today combines broad economic, political and military ties after decades of uncertainty and mistrust.

Vietnam is a state whose communist political system is closed like the regime in North Korea. Vietnam has followed economic openness policies in recent years, making it one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The United States became Vietnam's largest trading partner after the lifting of economic sanctions in 1995. The two countries have a free trade agreement, as well as ASEAN members of the Pacific.

Washington began steps to normalize relations since 1995 to become a US-friendly Vietnam, a center and symbol of hostility and suspicion for all Americans. Hanoi and Pan-Vietnam have become a favorite for American tourists and a center for investment attraction and cultural exchange.

Vietnam's exports have doubled more than 200 times between 1986 and 2016 to reach $ 210 billion in 2017, of which 80% are manufactured materials, many of which are exported to the United States. Vietnam's industrial exports to the United States have surpassed those of large nations such as Indonesia and the Philippines.

Hanoi and Washington are also building ever-expanding military ties. In a historic event, US aircraft carrier Carl Vinson visited the Danang port in March, the carrier from which military aircraft were launched to hit Vietnamese targets during the 1975 war.

Korean companies

South Korea is one of the largest countries investing and manufacturing in Vietnam, and it is enough to mention that Samsung Korea is the largest company operating in Vietnam. South Korea is one of the largest investors in Vietnam with $ 57.7 billion, said Professor Fu Minh Khong of the National University of Singapore. Vietnam could show North Korea the return of economic openness while adhering to the communist policy system. The export values of Samsung and LG of the two Koreas manufactured products in Vietnam in 2018 more than 50 billion dollars.

Conflict with China

Vietnam sought to host the Trump and Jong-un Summit to highlight its standing and relations at the bilateral and global levels. Bilaterally, hosting will support its increasingly important relations with Washington and Seoul.

As the dispute with China's strong neighbor over sovereign rights and maritime borders in the South China Sea continues, Hanoi's ties with the United States add more confidence to Vietnam's position. A number of Vietnamese citizens spoke to Al-Jazeera Net positively about Trump, who they see as "a national leader who faces China commercially and has solid positions against the conflict in the South China Sea."

Since the 1980s, Vietnam has been trying to emerge as the friendly country of all the countries of the world and an active partner in all efforts to promote regional and global cooperation and stability, as recognized by its Constitution. Hanoi is seeking a non-permanent seat on the Security Council, and the Summit will support these efforts.
