The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia arrived in Baghdad on Saturday to discuss the process of starting the first steps to choose the location of the stadium.
The Ministry of Youth said in a statement arrived in Al-Marabid a copy of it that the Saudi delegation arrived this morning to Baghdad International Airport and was received by Assistant Director General of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Fadel Al-Khafaji.
The delegation was headed by the supervisor of the project, Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Harkan. Its members included Mamdouh bin Nasser al-Shammari of the General Authority for Sport, Eid bin Shanif al-Harbi of the Ministry of Finance and Faisal bin Nasser al-Ajlan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Former Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced in March that Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz intended to give Iraq a football stadium, days after the two teams played a historic friendly in Basra.

The Saudi government announced on Sunday that it had turned the stadium it gave Iraq into an integrated sports city.
The announcement came during a press conference held in Baghdad, Saudi Ambassador Abdul Aziz al-Shammari with Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmed Riad, in the presence of the committee supervising the construction of the stadium.
"The committee is considering transforming the stadium into an integrated sports city," said Abdul Rahman Hamad, head of the supervisory committee. "It also started its first steps with the Iraqi government to build the stadium that King Salman bin Abdul Aziz gave to Iraq."
