Under the patronage of the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, His Excellency Mr. Tariq Hassan Amer, the Union of Arab Banks, in cooperation with the Central Bank of Egypt and the Union of Banks of Egypt, is organizing an Arab banking forum for the heads of risk management in Arab banks. / 3 until 1/4/2019 in the city of Alexandria - the Arab Republic of Egypt at the Helnan Palestine Hotel is scheduled to participate more than 250 risk managers Arab banks.
Background:
The Association of Risk Managers in Arab Banks, which is held by the Union of Arab Banks, is a platform to keep up with the expectations and orientations of many international organizations and the supervisory and supervisory authorities concerned, notably the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), especially in December 2017. A set of reform amendments to the standard approaches to measuring and managing credit risk and operational risk, which is the final review of the Basel III Convention, paving the way for what is expected to be called Basel IV.
These revisions and adjustments are in the direction of correcting the course adopted in the standard approaches to managing and measuring the credit and operating risks and the reasons behind these amendments and reducing the gap between the standard and internal approaches. In addition, the Basel Committee finalized the final amendments to the market risk calculation methods in January 2019 , And are expected to enter into force by 1 January 2022
In order to comply with the Basel Committee's new guidelines for measuring and managing risk and its impact on our Arab banks, the Union of Arab Banks will hold this forum to highlight these amendments, risk measurement policies and procedures, follow up and identify the basic requirements of banks for their implementation, as well as measuring capital adequacy, information systems and availability of resources With the aim of elevating risk management to levels that reflect internationally recognized standards and practices, both practical and theoretical, and raising awareness among the banking sector Financial and corporate sectors in the Arab world on the importance of adopting and applying internationally recognized risk management techniques and methods.
