China records 2018 highest trade surplus with the US since 2006

14th January, 2019

China's trade surplus with the United States rose to $ 323.32 billion last year, the highest recorded surplus since 2006, according to Reuters Estimates on Monday, according to customs data. China recorded a trade surplus with the United States of about $ 275.81 in 2017.

China's exports to the United States rose 11.3 percent last year, while imports from the United States rose only 0.7 percent.

China's huge trade surplus with the United States has been a sticking point with Washington for a long time and is at the heart of a bitter dispute between the world's two largest economies. The two countries exchanged customs tariffs on goods worth hundreds of billions of dollars. LINK

Central Bank: dependence on oil sign us in the problems (the new Arab)

I'll let you all think about the above a bit, as it is a something to absorb. It may not be the article Frank was referring to specifically the other day from the CBI or from the Chamber of Commerce, but, the above content shows that they (Iraq) are hooked up and mirroring "twinning with Banks around the Globe" if you will.

They have correspondent banks with the facilities to move money both at the private and governmental levels and in IQD. Therefore, the stage is set and imo, has been for quite some time. But, more recently more in depth and more broad in scope.

There is a new IRAQ FINANCE CONFERENCE coming in Feb 2019. It is hoped that this time around and on the back of so many heads of state in Iraq and there have been many over the last couple days, weeks and months to support that this conference will be one for them to remember, as it looks as though the playing field is now far more healthy and mature.

Just as the CBI is.. Lets see if they roll out the new smalls ahead of it to be proud of them and to show the World. The correspondent Banks with having the Facilities and Initiatives are the keys to the MR.. What say you Frank? lol ... imo ~ MM

Thanks again MM.. I cannot see this not being completely done in the very near future... The people of Iraq are waiting, and this is how they will judge the Mahdi PM tenure... By this very change in their currency to reflect a much higher rate... Money talks as with all people's within nations worldwide...

The lifting of the barriers around the CBI reflects confidence, as well as an indicator that something big is coming...IMO

Official holidays exceed working days in Iraq: differences hinder the reduction

2019 - 01 - 12

The discussions of the members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives during its two previous sessions have not resulted in the resolution of the file of the "official holidays", as the search process in the project has been hampered by the inability to complete it by identifying the events that necessitate a breakdown due to the differences of parties and the political incompatibility of blocs within parliament on the matter, Political and religious differences with sectarian dimensions in the first place.

And further impede the file, the entry of Kurds and Turkmen on the line claimants to allocate a new official holidays for their own events, which had delayed the file for more than ten years. Although constitutional holidays in the country do not exceed 20 days, there are more than 100 days of holidays for the state and its institutions for religious reasons once again, and national again.

In 2016, for example, holidays in Iraq were 150 days, meaning that state employees worked in their districts for only 120 days of the year, counting on Fridays and Saturdays, which have been a regular weekend since 2005.

The controversy over the official holidays has re-emerged again after Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi finally decided to add two new holidays, prompting politicians and members of parliament to demand that the constitution be constitutionally fixed and that it be kept out of the mix.

During the previous parliamentary sessions, Parliamentarians and government officials tried to open the file and discuss its economic effects, and return it to its constitutional base, which links holidays with national holidays and major public events, that is, the holidays are only 20 days.

However, sectarian and nationalist interventions have prevented the completion of its reading, such as the refusal of Kurdish deputies to reduce the holiday of the "New Year Persian" or the so-called "Norouz", from a week full disruption of the provinces of Kurdistan (Erbil, Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah) and make it limited to one day, Although the Eid is set for March 21, and parties to the Shiite parties insist that Eid al-Ghadir be an official holiday.

The Iraqi Council of Ministers headed by Abdul Mahdi, finally, a new recommendation to the House of Representatives to amend the draft law on public holidays in Iraq, but he recommended at the same time that "the amendment provides for the addition of 25 December of each year, The birth of Jesus Christ, and another amendment as the day of the liberation of the land of Iraq from the organization of Daqash , corresponding to the tenth of December, the National Day of the Republic of Iraq, and a public holiday every year.
